4RCR Photo, November 2007
Our Sierra Company picture finally arrived and I'm very proud to have a copy and to be in it (I'm seated, front row, far right). Our Company Sergeant Major was kind enough to let me be a part of the picture, even if as the padre I'm with HQ and not with S Coy. This represents a pretty good turnout, though over 15 members are absent doing workup training for Roto 03-08 in Afghanistan. This was take at the Royal School Building, Wolsely Barracks, Area Support Unit London (ON). Regrettably, I'm not allowed to play with the weapons on display here.

An excellent photo of the group. I'm not really up to date on British and Canadian weaponry. Is the central weapon a Carl Gustav?
It also fascinates me how much the middle pair of weapons resemble an MG34 to me. I imagine the resemblance is not quite as striking when seen more up close?
Yes, that's a Carl Gustav 84mm rocket launcher in the centre. It's still an effective weapon, even if it's been around for a while.
The MGs are a mix of the C6 General Purpose Machine Gun and the C9 Light Machine Gun.
The C6 (the one with the wooden stock) can be fitted with a Sustained Fire kit (basically a tripod) to fire long belts, while the C9 is intended for use at the section level, typically with a bipod and a box magazine to hold the belt.

They are very similar to the German MGs of WW2, aren't they?
